I had too high of an expectation on myself. Who don want a highly paid job, rite? Salary is the main point that I look at when I first started to hunt for a job. In the past, I have chosen Sony because its 120/day and I have chosen Public bank because its 2800/month. I used to think that the pay is everything, but now after I have learn that "people with high salary, has higher responsibility too", the most important thing is what I can learn from the job.

Since I left Public bank, I've gain a lot of things which I believe will help me in the future. I've learned the right way to do challenging sales (insurance), learned how to handle office politics, learned about banking policies so that I won't be cheated by a bank employee in the future, and I've also seen the true face of some people. People who would cry if you're doing great and clap their hands when you're going down. Thank god all this experiences has made me a better person.

Besides that, I also spent a few months learning how to trade in the share market. Just like how people learn mahjong, paid some school fees and master the skills. Then, spent a month traveling around Malaysia and Bali. After that, i started to hunt for a job in January. February was Chinese New Year, and the only thing i think about is gambling and drinking. How about my job hunting? Fuck that!

I applied for like 25 companies, went for a few interviews and stand a chance to get hired early May. Overall, it wasn't easy in getting a job as there is an army of graduates flooding the job market. Sometimes the company doesn't think you fit for the position. They need a dozen of reasons to think you are the one they are looking for, but they only need one reason to say you're not.

At first, I wanted to give up doing sales. I wanted a 9 to 5 job so that I don't have to bear the pressure of meeting sales target. When I was doing my degree, I wanted to become an investment banker when I graduate. That's why i did Finance in my final year. But at the time I graduate, the world's economy is in its worst recession ever. If you remembered, alot of companies cutting jobs, alot of people got burnt in the share market, and alot of people unemployed. One of the remarkable news by then, a bio-chemist with a phd in Singapore who became a taxi driver because he couldn't find a job.

By the time I graduated, the hottest people that employers want is sales people. Thus, I'm stranded doing sales. Sigh..I can tell you that I'm not really enjoying but I just had no choice to make. So, I just wanted to convince people who is having the same problem as me, and probably doing something that they don't want or don't like, to be patient. May you find your true path soon, but at the meantime contribute 100% on your job.

KRAFT, or Aman Dhillon, was born on 20 April 1987 in Kuala Lumpur. He was raised by his maternal grandparents in Perak, and received his primary and secondary education in Saint Anthony’s School. He’s no stranger to hip hop music and has been an ardent fan ever since he was introduced to the genre when he was 13.

What I See..

Clock ticks, earth rotates, and people changes constantly..

This year Chinese new year, I can feel something is changing. Not my friends' attitude but their age. I can see that all of us are grown up now. Few are working, few graduated but unemployed, few graduating and a few changed their job.

The feel of Chinese new year used to be exciting and anticipating for me. But what i can see from 2010 is that something is missing. The passion for chinese new year. Yes we used to spent every of our chinese new year gathered, drinking, gambling and going to each other open houses. But, this year, a lot of people are missing; Kengfei went to Czech Republic, Bok spent his chinese new year in S'pore and Engchui is'nt bothered about joining us anymore. Talking about drinking, we used to be able to finish two bottles of liquor together, but this year not even a full bottle of a jack daniels. About gambling, frankly me myself is sick of gambling already. Yea, we had a sing k outing as we used to have every year, which is also something that i was so dissappointed with how it was managed.

Thank god, there are some true friends who remain faithful and on the other hand is aware of a shrinking network too. But still, we don't give up having faith that as long as we stay together, it will be forever.

After a week of searching and hard work, finally came out wit a few that attracts my attention,

One of Bank Negara's programme as a banking trainee. Gets alot of exposure and learns about conventional and islamic banking, as well as investment banking. Bonded for 2 years, the first half will be spent in classes, outward bound school and workshops. Another half in internship. After that, I'll be sold to any banks that wanted me to be their slave. If I wanted to leave during this 2 years, I'll have to pay 45k as compensation and couldn't reject any offer from any banks that wanted to buy me. Oh ya, I'll be paid 2.2k for the first year, 5days work, no leave, no nothing.

Ambank graduate plan. They'll provide me with training and squeeze me into their bank asap. There is a high possibilty that I'll ended up as salesman again because Ambank is expanding their business in non-interest income(NII). Meaning, traditonal banks usually depends on Interest based income which normally includes hire purchase, mortgage loans, commercial loans, etc. Meanwhile, NII includes bancasurance, unit trust and other products and services which bring up the word SELL. I'm so tired with that burden. The best thing is, 2.8k a month, 5-6 days work, annual leaves, medical coverage, house and car loans.

The OSK Investment Bank Operations Associate (OA) Programme is specially designed to develop the next generation of leaders within the Operation, Support and Technology divisions. The programme is an ideal entry point to prepare high potential individuals for leadership roles through a series of structured programmes, rotation and stretched assignments in various Operations, Support and Technology. The question is what am i supposed to do in Support and Technology division.

Don't know which position best suits me, all has their pros and cons..However, will apply all of it and see how's my interview performance

Give and take

There is a lot of students that is telling me working is better than studying.

But same like I always said to everyone, study is always better than working..

Studying u have the flexibility over time, meaning u can control it and have a balance lifestyle. You can go for a movie after class or probably have an evening jog.

While, working in a nine to six basis leave you no choice but to contribute most of your time to your job. So what's the fun? Yes, your paycheck makes it meaningful for the time and effort you contributed for the month.

As i always say, no win-win situation. It's just give and take..
